Thomas Kirkpatrick is confirmed on the Baltic roll as a Gunner in H.M.S. Russell, parent ship of H.M. Mortar Boat Havock, one of a small number of mortar vessels that went to the Baltic in 1855. She was launched in March 1855 and was renamed MV5 in October of the same year. His medal was sent to Headquarters Gosport on 4 April 1857.
