Afghanistan, Kingdom, Order of Independence, First Class set of insignia, comprising sash badge, 57mm x 42mm, gold and silver; Star, 80mm, silver and gold, central gold overlay affixed by screw and nut to reverse as issued, with Arabic inscription to top point of reverse, with full sash riband, in original cloth covered case of issue, with type-written label on the inside reading ‘Admiral Sir Lionel Halsey’, nearly extremely fine, scarce (2) £1400-1800

Sir Lionel Halsey, G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., K.C.I.E., C.B. (1872-1949), was a Royal Naval Officer and Courtier, who served as Naval Aide-de-Camp to H.M. King George V, and Comptroller and Treasurer to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales (later H.M. King Edward VIII).
