Seven: Warrant Officer Class II S. W. Murrell, Royal Tank Regiment

India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, North West Frontier 1930-31 (7879480 Pte. S. W. Murrell. R. Tank. C.); 1939-45 Star; Africa Star, with 1st Army Bar; Italy Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45; Army L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 1st issue, Regular Army (7879480 W.O. Cl.2. S. W. Murrell. R. Tank. R.), mounted as worn; together with the recipient’s Dunkirk 1940 Commemorative Medal, in card box of issue; and a Belgian Veteran’s Cross, A.I.R., bronze, light contact marks to first, nearly extremely fine (9) £200-240

S. W. Murrell joined the Army as a boy soldier, and served with the Royal Tank Corps on the North West Frontier of India during the Afridi and Red Shirt Rebellions. On the outbreak of the Second War he served with the British Expeditionary Force in north-west Europe, before being evacuated through Dunkirk in 1940, and subsequently saw action in the North African and Italian campaigns.

Sold together with the nine related miniature awards, the seven British awards mounted as worn; and Dunkirk Veterans Association lapel badge, gilt and enamel.
