Leslie Chaloner West was born in 1899, in Streatham, Surrey, and was educated at Westminster School, where he was a member of the Westminster School Officer Training Corps. He left Westminster in April 1916 and enlisted in the 28th (Artist Rifles) Battalion London Regiment on 2 August 1917, and applied for a commission almost immediately, with James Gow, Headmaster of Westminster School, acting as referee. He joined an Officer Cadet Battalion on 4 January 1918 and passed out on 30 May 1918. Commissioned Second Lieutenant in 6th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps on 25 June 1918, he was posted to the 13th Battalion in France. Subsequently, he was examined by a Medical Board and returned home ‘unfit’ on 8th August 1918 (not entitled to a Silver War Badge). After the War, he re-enlisted in the 28th London Regiment (Territorial Army) on 3 January 1922. He died in Worthing, Sussex, in 1981.

Sidney Richard Roney was born in Bermondsey, London, in 1890. He served during the Great War on the Western Front as a Sapper, Royal Engineers, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the 18th Battalion London Regiment. He died in Bournemouth in 1969.

Douglas William Humphris was born in 1898, in Bristol, Gloucestershire. He served during the Great War with the Honourable Artillery Company (Infantry) on the Western Front from 12 July 1917 to 1 January 1919. He died in Hillingdon, Middlesex, on 2nd February 1962.
