Ronald E. G. Deall was born in 1894, and from 1914-16 served as a Sapper in the Royal Engineers on board troopships running from Australia to the Middle East. From June 1916 to June 1917, he was embarked on H.M.T. Hunsend as an Assistant Trooping Officer. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers on 15 November 1917 and was employed, until mid-1918, on Movement Control duties across the English Channel. In mid-1918 he transferred to the Wiltshire Regiment and was released early in 1919. He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery (T.A.) in 1925 and was embodied in August 1939 and joined 73 H.A.A. Regiment R.A. In September 1941 he was employed as Ship’s Staff on board requisitioned troop ships and remained so employed until his release from the Service on 11 September 1948. Sold with letter from the Royal Artillery Institution with statement of service.
