Charles Henry Jackson was born in Walberswick, near Southwold, Suffolk, in 1886. He was the son of Mr and Mrs H. Jackson, and the younger brother of G. D. Jackson. He enlisted in the Royal Naval Reserve in March 1915, and served as a Deck Hand during the Great War, until his discharge in May 1919.

George David Jackson was born in Walberswick, near Southwold, Suffolk. He was the son of Mr and Mrs H. Jackson, and the older brother of C. H. Jackson. He enlisted in the Royal Naval Reserve in July 1915, and served as a Deck Hand during the Great War, until his discharge in March 1919.

Both brothers were fishermen prior to their enlistment.
