Robert Arthur Harris, General List and Expeditionary Force Canteens, was drowned when the French cargo ship, the S.S. Maine, of 773 tons, was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine UB-56 some 30 miles off Newhaven. His name is commemorated on the Hollybrook Memorial, Southampton.

With named commemorative scroll; slip to accompany the plaque; the book, West and East with the E.F.C., by Captain E. Vredenburg; together with copied research - including ‘Buckingham Palace’ telegram from the Keeper of the Privy Purse on behalf of the King and Queen, to his wife.
