George William Hodge was killed on 26 September 1918, when serving on board the U.S.S. Tampa. This United States Navy coastguard cutter was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine whilst engaged on convoy duty in the English Channel. He is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial. Sold with copied record of service.
