John Unwin was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, and attested there for the Scots Guards. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 27 September 1918. he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, France.
