Charles Thomas Smallpiece was born in 1880 in Norbiton, Surrey, and served with the 1st Battalion Devonshire Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front from 27 August 1914. He was killed in action at Givenchy on 23 October 1914; he has no known grave and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, France. He is also commemorated on the Kingston-on-Thames War Memorial and St Peter’s Church, Norbiton.
