George Rankin Jolly served with the Gordon Highlanders for 14 years, including service in South Africa during the Boer War, before serving as a Police Officer with the Govan Burgh Police. He emigrated to Canada in 1913, and served with the ‘G” Company, 105th Regiment (Saskatoon Fusiliers Militia), before attesting for the 195th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, at Regina, Saskatchewan, on 21 April 1916, and serving overseas with the 28th Canadian Infantry (not entitled to the 1914-15 Star).
