James Moncrieff was born in the Parish of Kirriemuir, Forfar, and attested for the 93rd Highlanders at Dundee on 3 March 1855, aged 19, a baker by trade. He was discharged, ‘his having claimed it on termination of his limited engagement,’ on 20 August 1865. His discharge papers confirm award of both medals and clasps. Sold with copied discharge papers and various muster and medal roll entries.
