Nelson); together with the recipient’s Dunkirk Veteran’s Medal, all mounted for wear, generally very fine (9) £400-500

London Gazette 28 November 1944:

‘For gallantry, skill, determination and undaunted devotion to duty during the landing of Allied Forces on the coast of Normandy.’

John Robertson served with the Royal Navy at H.M.S. St. Vincent, and with H.M.S. Douglas prior to the Second War. He advanced to Chief Petty Officer, and his war service included with H.M.S. Nelson (battleship) during the Normandy Landings, 6 June 1944. She hit two mines 18 June 1944, and was withdrawn for repair. Subsequent service included at H.M.S. Glendower (training establishment).

Robertson was awarded the Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., 6 July 1944, and the Second Award Bar, 19 January 1960.

St. Vincent, and 1 from H.M.S. Douglas; with B.E.M. card box of issue.
