The Second War M.B.E. group of five attributed to Chief Commander Isobel Powell, Auxiliary Territorial Service

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Military) Member’s 2nd type badge, silver, on lady’s bow riband; Defence and War Medals 1939-45; Jubilee 1935; Efficiency Decoration, G.VI.R., 2nd issue, silver and silver-gilt, reverse officially dated ‘1951’, with top Territorial riband bar, mounted as worn, good very fine (5) £300-400

Isobel Powell was commissioned Second Subaltern in the Auxiliary Territorial Service on 3 September 1939, and was advanced to Senior Commander and temporary Chief Commander on 23 August 1943.

Sold together with the named Buckingham Place enclosure letter for the M.B.E., and a hand-written note from the recipient on the eve of her 104th birthday.
