A fine Bronze Cross of Rhodesia awarded to Private F. Mugandani, Selous Scouts

Rhodesia
, Bronze Cross of Rhodesia, the reverse officially inscribed ‘644911 Pvt. F. Mugandani’; with the recipient’s bronze ‘Parachute Wings’ badge, the reverse officially numbered ‘0029’, very fine, rare (2) £800-1200

Felix Mugandani served with the Selous Scouts during the Bush War, and was awarded the Bronze Cross of Rhodesia on 26 September 1975, the citation stating:

‘For courage and gallantry over and above the call of duty in the North Eastern border area. Whilst tracking as a member of a patrol, Private Felix Mugandani played an active part in the elimination of several terrorist groups. A total of seventeen terrorists were killed or captured over a period of three weeks by his patrol, and amongst these was a terrorist district commander. The entire terrorist effort was neutralised in this particular area, and a large quantity of war material was recovered. He played a prominent part in physically attacking and subduing terrorists on several different occasions during the operation. Private Mugandani displayed great personal gallantry, outstanding initiative, and devotion to duty far beyond the call of normal operational requirements.’
