Lloyd’s Medal for Saving Life at Sea, 2nd small type, silver (William Spencer “Camden” 19. Feby. 1901.) edge bruising, very fine £280-320

William Spencer was the Chief Engineer of the S.S. Camden and was awarded the Lloyd’s Medal for Saving Life at Sea for the rescue of fellow members of his crew: ‘On 19 February 1901, 12 miles south of Cape Spartel, the Camden was wrecked whilst on a voyage from Cardiff to Malta with a cargo of Coal.’ (Lloyd’s Weekly Shipping Index 1 March 1901 refers).
