John Griffiths was awarded his Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society Medal in bronze, together with a Certificate of Thanks, ‘for having rescued a man from drowning in the Sandon Dock, Liverpool, on 25th October, 1945.’ (Royal Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society Annual Report 1946 refers).
