Philip Lee Prangley Marett was commissioned as a Pilot Officer on 11 December 1926, serving with No. 3 (Fighter) Squadron for a number of years. He was promoted to Flying Officer in June 1928 and to Flight Lieutenant in December 1932. He was posted to No. 11 (Bomber) Squadron in October 1933, part of No. 2 Indian Wing at Risalpur. During his service in India he took part in the operations on the North West Frontier from 1935 to 1938, being also entitled to the medal and clasp for ‘North West Frontier 1935’. Promoted to Squadron Leader in February 1938, he returned to the U.K. where he was eventually posted to No. 37 (Bomber) Squadron. He was promoted Wartime Temporary Wing Commander in September 1940 and served on the Staff in the Middle East, North Africa and Italy. He retired from the R.A.F. in February 1948 as a General Duties Squadron Leader, retaining the rank of Wing Commander, and died on 7 February 1982. Sold with detailed research.
