‘For conspicuous gallantry in an encounter with a gang of raiders on the North West Frontier on 24th August 1916. This Indian Officer, Jemadar Gul Rakhim, North Waziristan Militia, was entirely responsible for the success of the operations which led to the rounding up of the gang. Jemadar Gul Rakhim was himself wounded at a range of 70 yards from the raiders’ sangars but continued to conduct the operations under a hot fire with coolness and skill until final success was achieved.’
