Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Defence of Kimberley (Pte. R. Gibbon. Kimberley Town Gd:) good very fine £160-200
R. Gibbon served during the Second Boer War and is recorded on the published transcription of the medal roll for both the Kimberley Town Guard and the Kimberley Regiment of Volunteers. In each case his Q.S.A. entitlement is given as ‘Defence of Ladysmith, Orange Free State, and Transvaal’. It is possible that due to human error he was issued with two medals. The medal listed above appears entirely as issued.
