South Africa 1877-79, 1 clasp, 1879 (1724. Pte. I. Beveridge. 2-21st Foot.) very fine

John Beveridge (erroneously listed as ‘Bevendges’ and ‘Bevan’ on the published transcription of the respective medal and casualty rolls) was a native of Brechin, Forfarshire, and he attested for the 21st Foot in 1878. He served with the Regiment in South Africa and was dangerously wounded at Ulundi, 4 July 1879). He served with the Regiment in India, and died in Burma, 2 June 1887 (entitled to I.G.S. 1854-95, with ‘1885-7’ clasp).
