David Brown served with the 1st Madras Fusiliers at the relief of Pegu, 14 December 1852, and during the investment of the latter 4 -8 January 1853. He advanced to Lieutenant-Colonel in January 1862, and was employed as Colonel and Commissioner of the Tenasserim Division, Burma, from March 1865. He retired Lieutenant-General, and died in January 1911.
