Thomas Veal (also variously listed as ‘Vale’ and ‘Veale’) initially served (as 2349 Private) with the 14th Foot, before transferring (as 3539 Private) to the 49th Foot in May 1854. He was wounded at the Battle of Inkermann, hospitalised, and died at Scutari 29 May 1855.
