Army of India 1799-1826, 1 clasp, Laswarree (J. Durdin, 29th Lt. Dragns.) short hyphen reverse, officially impressed naming, light edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise very fine and rare £3000-3600

Only 10 medals issued with the single clasp for Laswarree, this being unique to the 29th Light Dragoons.

Joseph Durdin was born in the Parish of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, and enlisted at Northampton for the 29th Light Dragoons on 8 May 1801, a cordwainer by trade. He was promoted to Corporal on 1 July 1806, and to Sergeant on 16 January 1812. He was discharged at Cawnpore on 10 August 1813, for ‘loss of power of the right leg’ and for being in ‘constant bad state of health & debility’, and transferred to the 1st Royal Veteran Battalion. Sold with copied discharge papers.
