Military General Service 1793-1814, no clasps, disc only (Henry Hellberg, 1st Hussars K.G.L.) contact marks, nearly very fine £400-500

Entitled to 8 clasps, for Talavera, Fuentes D’Onor, Ciudad Rodrigo, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Orthes, Toulouse. He was also present at Waterloo and awarded the Guelphic Medal for gallantry in the Peninsula. The following citation was extracted from the Guelphic archives:

‘During the withdrawal to the lines of Torres Vedras in 1810 he was cut off, but making use of roundabout routes was able to rejoin the regiment three weeks later. At Toulouse showed himself to be very brave.’

‘The 1st K.G.L. Hussars were deserved favourites of the Light Division, it was one of the romances of a soldier’s life to hear them chanting their National war songs.’ (Kincaid refers)
