Approximately 58 clasps issued for the capture of the U.S.S. President, including 13 to officers. Unique combination with Syria.

The Admiralty claimants lists show William Bean as Acting Carpenter of H.M.S. Endymion at the capture of the U.S.S. President, and as Carpenter of H.M.S. Implacable in the operations off the coast of Syria.

William Bean first appears as an Ordinary Seaman aboard H.M.S. Egyptienne on 24 September 1803; Goliath, 19 March 1807, becoming Carpenter’s Crew from 1 May 1807; Blake, 9 December 1808, becoming Caulker’s Mate from 20 May 1813. He joined Endymion as Caulker’s Crew on 21 May 1813, becoming Caulker from 26 July 1813, Acting Carpenter from 16 May 1814, and Carpenter from 10 June 1815 until paid off on 5 September 1815. He then spent many years in Plymouth Ordinary until loaned to H.M.S. Implacable as Carpenter from 6 February 1839 until 28 February 1841. He was finally discharged on 9 March 1848.
