Forfar & Kincardine Militia Artillery Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet and Named Carrying Tin c. 1889-1902, a very fine example, the blue cloth skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the front plate featuring the Royal Arms, a short laurel scroll and bottom scroll ‘Forfar & Kincardine Artillery’, original leather sweat band, crimson silk quilted lining, the plate original to the helmet; the jappaned carrying tin with brass plaque ‘J.D.B. Ogilvy Esq., Forfar & Kincardine Arty’, also with attached paper label for the North Eastern Railway, destination ‘Edinbro’, the helmet in very fine condition overall other than a slight dent in the body around the base of the quadrant, one section of the helmet tin hasp missing and with some dents (2) £500-600
