Pair: Sergeant R. J. Potter, Intelligence Corps

Korea 1950-53, 1st issue (14404378 Sjt. R. J. Potter. Int Corps) surname officially corrected; U.N. Korea 1950-54, unnamed as issued, good very fine, scarce (2) £100-140

Ronald J. Potter served during the Second World War at the Battle of Alamein and subsequently in Jordan. Recalled from the Reserve in 1950 he sailed to Korea on the Empress of Australia, arriving in January 1951 with ten other Intelligence Corps Soldiers. They were the first Intelligence Corps Soldiers to arrive in theatre, and formed 904 Section as part of 29 Infantry Brigade. Joined by Korean Interpreters, they advanced up through Kaesong and Pyongyang, and then back to the 38th Parallel. Their main task was detecting and then interrogating North Korean agents and providing protective security. Potter returned to the U.K. on 11 November 1951 and was subsequently discharged from the Army.
