Moses Othen was born at Farnham, Surrey, and attested for the Hampshire Regiment at Winchester. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War, and was killed in action on the Western Front at Ypres on 9 August 1916, during the enemy gas attack. He is buried in Potijze Chateau Wood Cemetery, Ypres, Belgium.
