E.R.A.3 R.N.) all in somewhat damaged named card boxes of issue, with Admiralty enclosure in envelope addressed to ‘Mrs. M. A. Oakwell, 4 France Street, Blackburn’; Memorial Plaque (Alfred Arthur Ernest Oakwell) in card envelope, suspension claw rivet missing from BWM, extremely fine (4) £200-240

Alfred Arthur Ernest Oakwell served during the Great War in H.M. Submarine H3, commissioned on 3 June 1915. He was killed in action when she hit a mine in the Gulf of Cattaro, Adriatic Sea, on 15 July 1916, and is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
