William George Walter Sprackett was born in Horsham Sussex, in 1888 and attested for the Rifle Brigade in London on 15 March 1905. He served with the Brigade in India from 1909 until 1912, and with the 3rd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 19 September 1914. He was discharged on 26 April 1915 due to epilepsy, after 10 years and 43 days’ service, and in later life moved to Somerset.
