James VI (1567-1625), Ryal, 1570, usual trefoil of pellets at beginning and ends of legends, 29.90g/5h (B 5; Spink 20, 190, same obv. die; S 5472). With crowned thistle countermark for the revaluation of 1578 to left of sword hilt, very fine (£600-650)
