China 1842, no clasp, edge inscribed ‘W. F. Wallace Lt. 26th. Regiment’, with top silver riband buckle, nearly extremely fine £60-80

Albany French Wallace was commissioned Ensign in the 26th (Cameronian) Regiment of Foot on 5 April 1839, and was promoted Lieutenant on 29 December 1840. He served with the Regiment in China in 1842 at Chusan, Canton, the sea batteries at Amoy, at Golongso, in the defence of Ningpo, and at Tscke, Chapoo, Woosung, Shanghai, Chin Kiang Foo, and Nanking. Promoted Captain on 1 October 1847, he subsequently transferred to the 7th (Royal Fusiliers) Regiment of Foot.
