William David Proctor served with the Indian Army Ordnance Corps on the North West Frontier of India from 1897 to 1898, including at Samana and Tirah; in the Great War in Iraq from October 1918 (not entitled to a Victory Medal); and in Waziristan from 1922 to 1924, where he was twice Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazettes 30 May 1924 and 13 March 1925), and was also awarded the O.B.E. in the latter Gazette ‘for valuable services rendered in the field in connection with military operations in Waziristan, 21 April 1923 to 31 March 1924.’
