Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (3182. Corp: S. R. Dixon. 7/ Hussars.) engraved naming, good very fine £70-90

Stanley Robert Dixon was born in Secunderabad, India, in 1858, and attested for the 18th Hussars at Bangalore, India, on November 1872, aged 14. He transferred to the 14th Hussars in August 1875, and served with them in Natal from March to December 1881, before returning with the Regiment to India. In October 1886 he had a further transfer, this time to the 2nd Dragoon Guards, before transferring to his fourth and final Regiment, the 7th Hussars, in January 1887. Promoted Corporal in December of the following year, he was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in November 1893, and was discharged in May 1897, after 24 years and 168 days’ service.
