Gundry Hawke a native of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, was born in 1897 and enlisted in the Royal Artillery on 12 January 1917, serving during the Great War with ‘E’ Battery, Royal Field Artillery.

Norman Lacey was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, on 28 November 1899 and enlisted there for the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He served during the Great War with the 1st Battalion, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 31 August 1918, on which date the Battalion was in action in an attack on Remy Village and Wood, and is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

Archie Rogers was born in Fulham, Middlesex, and enlisted for the Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex Regiment) at Kingston, Surrey. He served during the Great War with the 17th Battalion, and died of wounds on the Western Front on 30 December 1917, and is buried in Grevillers British Cemetery, France.

Albert Hatt was born at Wycombe Marsh, Buckinghamshire, and enlisted for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps at High Wycombe. He served during the Great War with the 11th Battalion, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 20 September 1917, and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.

Thomas Smith was born at Lacey Green, Buckinghamshire, and enlisted for the Machine Gun Corps at High Wycombe. He served during the Great War with the 58th Battalion, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 16 April 1918, and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France.

Sidney Strange was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and enlisted for the Rifle Brigade at Southwark, Surrey. He served during the Great War with the 13th Battalion, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 13 July 1918, and is buried in St. Amand British Cemetery, France.

Ralph North was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and enlisted there for the Royal Garrison Artillery. He served during the Great War with the 289th Siege Battery, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 24 September 1917, at the Battle of the Menin Road, and is buried in Voormezeele Cemetery, Ypres, Belgium.

James Tilbury was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and enlisted for the Royal Warwickshire Regiment at Oxford. He served during the Great War with the 1st Garrison Battalion, and died in Egypt on 4 June 1917, and is buried in Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.

George Knock was born in Stowmarket, Suffolk, and enlisted for the Suffolk Regiment at Sudbury, Suffolk. He served during the Great War with the 1st Battalion in France from 16 January 1915, and was invalided home three times for wounds, once for frozen feet, on which occasion he was unable to walk for many months. He transferred to the Bedfordshire Regiment, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 12 April 1917, and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.

George Humphrey was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and enlisted there for the Machine Gun Corps. He served during the Great War with the 87th Company, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 16 August 1917, and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
