Charles Austin was born in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and enlisted there for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He served with the 2/1st (Buckinghamshire) Battalion during the Great War, and was killed in action on the Western Front 19 July 1916, and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

John Henry Wilks a native of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, was born in 1897 and enlisted for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry at Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. He served with the 1/1st (Buckinghamshire) Battalion during the Great War, and died of wounds on the Western Front 29 March 1916, reputedly from wounds received on his first day in the trenches, and is buried in Beauval Communal Cemetery, France.

Sidney George Adby was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and enlisted there for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He served with the 3rd Battalion during the Great War in the Balkans theatre of War from 30 September 1915, before transferring to the 2/4th Battalion. He died of wounds on the Western Front 6 April 1918 and is buried in St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France. His brother, Sergeant Richard James Adby, 1st Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal.

George Bidgood was born in Westminster and enlisted for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry at High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. He served with the Regiment during the Great War before transferring to the 10th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment, and was killed in action on the Western Front 9 April 1917, and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.

Arthur Dover was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, on 10 May 1891, and enlisted for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry at London. He served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War and died of wounds whilst serving with the Indian Expeditionary Force in the Persian Gulf on 7 April 1916, and is buried in Amara War Cemetery, Iraq.

Lionel White was born in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, in 1893 and enlisted there for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry on 27 January 1911. He served with the 2/1st (Buckinghamshire) Battalion during the Great War in France from 25 May 1916, before transferring to the Royal Berkshire Regiment, 13 March 1918. Taken Prisoner of War on 25 March 1918, he was repatriated to England on 3 December 1918, and was demobilised on 11 March 1919, after 8 years and 44 days’ service.
