Transport 1899-1902, 1 clasp, S. Africa 1899-1902 (T. C. Clinock. In Command.) together with the related miniature award and a silver (E.P.N.S.) cigarette case, the front engraved ‘Presented by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty as a Memento of Services Rendered by Captain Thomas Courts Clinock during the War 1914-1918 in the conveyance of confidential mails overseas’, extremely fine £600-800

Thomas Courts Clinock was born in London in 1852 and served as Master in command of the Union Castle line’s S.S. Harlech Castle. He was presented with his Transport Medal by H.M. the King on 4 November 1903. He subsequently served in the Great War in the same line’s S.S. Balmoral Castle, and died in 1941.
