King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (4637 Pte. J. Hutton. 3rd. Rl: Hdrs.), top lugs removed, good very fine and scarce to unit £50-70

James Hutton was born in Dundee in 1874 and attested for the Royal Highlanders (Black Watch) at Dundee on 4 November 1892. He served with the 3rd (Militia) Battalion, before being temporarily appointed to the 2nd Battalion (the 3rd Battalion, although embodied, never left the United Kingdom) upon being called up for duty with the Regular Forces in South Africa from 5 June 1900 (entitled to Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasps for Cape Colony, Orange Free State, and Transvaal). He was posted back to the 3rd (Militia) Battalion on 4 August 1902, and discharged on 3 November 1902.
