King’s South Africa 1901-02 (2), 2 clasps (5694 Pte. T. Doorbar. Cheshire Regt.; 3965 Pte. J. H. Rogers. Cheshire Regt.) edge bruising to first, nearly very fine (2) £70-90

Timothy Stewart Doorbar was born in 1873 in Biddulph, Staffordshire, and attested for the Cheshire Regiment at Congleton, Cheshire, on 31 March 1898. He served with the 2nd Battalion in South Africa from 7 January 1900 until 26 October 1902 (entitled to Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasps for Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, and Relief of Kimberley), and transferred to the Army Reserve on 21 January 1905, before being finally discharged on 30 March 1910, after 12 years’ service. He re-enlisted for service during the Great War on 14 September 1914, and served at home with the 5th North Staffordshire Regiment, before being discharged on 27 January 1915 after a further 16 days’ service.

J. H. Rogers served with the 4th (Militia) Battalion, Cheshire Regiment in South Africa from 25 February 1900 until 9 May 1902 (entitled to a Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasps Cape Colony and Orange Free State). He was discharged on his return to England, but re-enlisted on 13 May 1908, and was advanced to the rank of Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant, being finally discharged on 13 May 1916.
