India General Service 1895-1902, 1 clasp, Punjab Frontier 1897-98 (3236 Sadlr. Sergt. A. Cockburn 4th Dragoon Gds) minor official correction to unit, suspension slack, very fine £100-140

Henry James Cockburn was born in Berkshire. Already having experience as a Saddler he attested for the 4th Dragoon Guards, 17 March 1887. He served with the Regiment in India, and advanced to the rank of Saddler Staff Sergeant, 9 April 1904. Discharged 16 March 1908, after 21 years service with the Colours.

Cockburn re-engaged for service with the City of London Yeomanry, 24 October 1914. He transferred as a Saddler Sergeant to the Royal Field Artillery, and served at Home until his eventual discharge, 17 December 1918.
