East and West Africa 1887-1900, 1 clasp, Witu 1890 (T. H. Patrickson, Actg. Bombr. R.M.A., H.M.S. Boadicea.) minor edge bruising, very fine £200-240

Thomas Henry Patrickson was born at St. Pancras, London, on 23 May 1869 and joined the Royal Marine Artillery in London on 23 June 1886. He served in H.M.S. Boadicea from 24 April 1888, and was promoted to Acting Bombardier on 1 January 1889. He took part in the Naval Expedition against Witu, 25 to 29 October 1890, and was wounded on the latter date. After serving in H.M.S. Royal Sovereign from 31 May 1893, he transferred to the Naval Police on 14 July 1894, and was finally discharged on 7 February 1896.

Recipient is not listed in the London Gazette as a casualty. His papers give the date 29 October 1890 under the section for ‘Wounds and Hurts’ so this may refer to an injury rather that a wound received in action
