Kabul to Kandahar Star 1880 (2075 Private W. Cooper 92nd. Highlanders) very fine £200-240

William Cooper was born in Aberdeen in 1848 and attested for the 92nd Highlanders at Aberdeen on 9 August 1869. He served with the Regiment in India from 29 December 1869, and in Afghanistan with the Kurram Field Force from 31 March 1879. He was awarded the Afghan Medal with clasps for Charasia, Kabul, and Kandahar, and the Kabul to Kandahar Star. He subsequently served with the Regiment in the First Boer War in South Africa from 30 January 1881 until 29 January 1882, and was appointed a Piper on 4 June 1881. Returning to the United Kingdom on 30 January 1882, he served for a further eight and a half years, before being discharged at Aberdeen on 8 August 1890, after 22 years’ service.
