China 1857-60, 2 clasps, Taku Forts 1860, Pekin 1860 (Gunr. Geo. Perrott, No. 6 B. 12th. Bde. R. Art.) officially impressed naming, slight excess solder to suspension claw, die flaw to obverse inscription, very fine £240-300

George Perrott was born in Devizes, Wiltshire, in December 1828 and attested for the 37th (North Hampshire) Regiment of Foot at Chippenham, Wiltshire, on 7 October 1846. He served with the Regiment in India (entitled to a no clasp Indian Mutiny Medal) before transferring, after 12 years and 334 days’ service, to the Royal Artillery on 6 November 1859. Posted to 12th Brigade, he served with the Artillery in China for two years, before being ‘invalided to England 21 December 1861’ (Medal roll refers). He continued to serve for a further six years, receiving his final discharge on 17 March 1868, after 21 years and 36 days’ service.
