Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Lucknow (Cr. Serjt. H. Johnson, 1st. Bn. 20th. Regt.) minor edge bruise, good very fine £280-320

Henry Johnson was born in Camberwell, London, in 1815 and attested for the 20th (East Devonshire) Regiment of Foot at London on 5 June 1837. Promoted Corporal on 8 December 1843, and Sergeant on 18 September 1845, he served with the Regiment during the Crimean War (entitled to medal with clasps for Alma and Sebastopol), and was promoted Colour Sergeant on 1 January 1856. After serving in India for ten and a half months during the Great Sepoy Mutiny, he was discharged on 19 April 1859 after 21 years and 306 days’ service.
