Indian Mutiny 1857-59 (3), no clasp (1364 Sergt. E. Sharpe, H.Ms. 81st. Regt.) final letter of surname contemporarily added and neatly engraved, traces of brooch mounting to obverse and suspension re-affixed; another, 1 clasp, Lucknow (1375 Corpl. W. Harding. 3 Bn. Rif. Bde.) re-engraved naming, suspension re-affixed; another, 1 clasp, Central India (Appce. Thos. Mayn...d, 8th Hussars.) traces of brooch mounting to edge, suspension re-constituted, nearly very fine and better (3) £300-400

Edward Sharpe was born in 1821 in South Creek, Norfolk, and attested for the 81st (Loyal Lincoln Volunteers) on 5 December 1839. He was promoted Corporal on 1 January 1854, and Sergeant, 16 July 1857, and was awarded his Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, together with a gratuity of £5, on 24 June 1861, before being discharged on 23 September 1862 after 21 years and 233 days’ service.

Thomas Maynard served as a Hospital Apprentice with the 8th Hussars.
