Turkish Crimea 1855 (2), Sardinian issue (2499 Corpl. T. Anderson. 57th. Regt.; T. Dickinson 88th. Regt.) first with contemporarily impressed naming, plugged with ball and ring suspension; second with later engraved naming, pierced with ring suspension, traces of brooch mounting to obverse of second, nearly very fine (2) £70-90

Thomas Anderson was born in Baroney, Glasgow, in 1829 and attested for the 47th (Lancashire) Regiment of Foot at Glasgow on 17 September 1846. Transferring to the 57th (West Middlesex) Regiment of Foot on 1 March 1853, he served with them during the Crimean War, and received ‘the Crimean Medal and clasps for Inkermann, Sebastopol, and Balaklava, and the Turkish and French War Medals’ (discharge papers refer). Promoted Corporal on 1 March 1858, and Sergeant, 8 February 1861, he was finally discharged on 28 July 1868 after 21 years and 22 days’ service.

Thomas Dickinson served with the 88th (Connaught Rangers) Regiment of Foot during the Crimean War, and died of dysentery at Scutari in 1855.
