Alfred Ames served during the Great War with the 6th Dragoons in the French theatre of war from 16 December 1914. He was discharged 22 May 1919.

Alfred Hook was born in Hastings, Sussex. He attested for the Corps of Dragoons of the Line, 21 October 1893, and was posted to The Royal Dragoons, October 1899. He transferred to the 5th Reserve Cavalry Regiment, 9 October 1914, before final discharge, 1 June 1919, after 25 years and 224 days service.
