James Innes was born in Peebles, Scottish Borders, and attested for the 5th Dragoon Guards at Edinburgh. He served during the Great War with the Regiment on the Western Front, and was killed in action, 10 March 1918. He is commemorated on the Theipval Memorial, Somme.
