23rd (Royal Welch Fusiliers) Regiment Officer’s Shoulder Belt Plate c. 1800 - 1810, an extremely rare and unrecorded pattern, the rectangular gilt back plate with rounded corners with gilt mounts comprising a crowned strap ‘Royal Welch Fusileers’, below the strap ‘XXIII’, within the strap the Prince of Wales’s crest and motto in silver, all mounts pinned through, complete with two hook and two stud fasteners (6.8 x 8 cms), the back plate with some gilt loss but otherwise in very good condition £1500-2000

This lot was sold as part of a special collection, The Collection of Militaria to Welsh Regiments formed by the Late Llewellyn Lord.
